Apart from the old legendary IPL teams, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022, if cricket fans are most interested in any team, then it is the most expensive team in IPL history, Lucknow. This team has been bought by RPSG Group owner Sanjeev Goenka for 7090 crores in the team auction in Dubai on 25 October 2021.
Today Lucknow team announced its formal name, this team will be known as Lucknow Super Giants.

IPL is not new for Goenka. Prior to this, he was the owner of Pune Super Giants (201617), which was later dissolved by the BCCI.
Like other teams of IPL, the name of this team has not been decided yet. By the way, the name of Lucknow Nawabs is the most discussed at this time. Which also matches with the old culture of Lucknow. This team has asked the fans for suggestions for names and it will be decided soon.

Lucknow IPL Team 2022 Captain
Earlier it was believed that one of the most experienced players of the IPL and an important member of the Chennai team, Suresh Raina who himself belongs to UP, can be made the captain of the Lucknow team. But in view of his very poor form in IPL 2021 and age, now the eyes of the team are fixed on KL Rahul.

Rahul was handling the captaincy of Punjab Kings till last season, but due to differences with the team management, Rahul announced to leave the captaincy as well as the team and decided to participate in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
On 21st January Lucknow team management officially announced that KL Rahul will be the captain of the new franchise.

Lucknow IPL Team 2022 Head Coach, Mentor
The Lucknow team management has appointed the former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, Andy Flower, as the head coach. Gautam Gambhir, who has led KKR to the IPL title twice under his captaincy, will be the mentor of the team while Vijay Dahiya will be the assistant coach.
