IPL 2023: 4 Players Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Might Retain Ahead Of Auction. Indian Premier League’s juggernaut continues as we head to the 16th edition. All the 10 franchises, after having an intense fight in the IPL 2022, have started brainstorming about the upcoming IPL 2023 auction, to be held in the month of Feb-March 2023. Lucknow Supergiants, who was inducted into the IPL frame for the first time, impressed everyone with their performance in their inaugural season. KL Rahul’s led team reached the playoff stage but was knocked out after losing against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Lucknow Super Giants had a good IPL season. They were on course to be among the top 2 teams in the IPL 2022 points table, but, they could not finish at the second position due to the inferior net run rate. A few players performed exceptionally well for Lucknow. The captaincy of KL Rahul was commendable, baring his few tactical judgments in the playoff stage, which resulted in the exit for the side. It won’t be an understatement if we say that KL Rahul is the best player to have played in the IPL in the last 4-5 years. The right-handed batsman has made everyone admire his batting. KL Rahul continued his prolific form in the IPL 2022, scoring 616 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51 and a strike rate of close to 135. This includes 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries. KL Rahul is a player who is an automatic choice for any IPL franchise, and he is sure to be retained by Lucknow Supergiants ahead of IPL 2023 auction as the captain.

Like his partner KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock also had a good IPL 2022. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman played an integral part in the franchise’s good start in most games. He was the second-highest run-scorer for LSG in IPL 2022, scoring 508 runs in 15 innings, at an average of 36, and a strike rate of 149. Quinton De Kock scored runs with ease, showing his 360-degree batting skills. Seeing the good performance by the South African batsman at the top, he will most likely be retained ahead of IPL 2023 auction.

Deepak Hooda, the middle-order batsman for Lucknow, played a very crucial role for the team in the IPL 2022. He was quick, energetic, and had the zeal to score consistently. Deepak Hooda finished IPL 2022 as the third-highest scorer for his franchise, accumulating 451 runs in 14 innings, at an average of 32 and strike rate of close to 137. He changed his gears as and when the situation demanded and also guided the team in crunch situations. Deepak Hooda most likely will be one of the players whom Lucknow SuperGiants will retain ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.


Lucknow Super Giants will have a tough time choosing between Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan as one of the retentions ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Both these fast bowlers were successful for the franchise. Mohsin Khan was given the opportunity very late, but he grabbed it with both hands, picking 14 wickets in 9 innings. He was praised by the cricket fraternity for his wonderful bowling. On the other hand, Avesh Khan continued his golden run with the bowl, picking the highest wickets in the IPL 2022 for the franchise. He took 18 wickets in 13 innings.
