Asia Cup Cricket 2023: Predicted 18-Member Squad of Team India. Asia Cup is a tournament organized by the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) since 1983, and the first edition was held in 1984. There is a 2-year alternation between ODIs and T20s. India is the most successful team with seven titles (six ODI titles and one T20I title), followed by Sri Lanka with six titles (five ODI titles and one T20I title). Sri Lanka is the current Asia Cup 2022 champion.

The teams participating in the Asia Cup are ACC member nations, which include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal

The 2023 Asia Cup will be a 50-50 format tournament to be hosted by Pakistan (final venue yet to be announced) and will have six qualified teams competing against each other in a round-robin format. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal have qualified for the Asia Cup 2023.

Opportunity For Rohit Sharma

India, as usual, are the tournament favorites, and they will have the upper hand in the tournament, with skipper Rohit Sharma aiming to win the Asia Cup 50-50 trophy for the second time as a captain after 2018. This edition might even be the last edition for Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and they would look to register a win in their last Asia Cup.

With high hopes, India has already taken up the task of setting up a perfect squad before the Asia Cup. Though veterans like Rohit and Virat are irreplaceable in the Indian squad due to their outstanding performances for Team India.

However, players such as Shikhar Dhawan, who was the Man of the Match in India’s 2018 Asia Cup victory, have been replaced by young Indian sprouting talent Shubman Gill, who has fixed his spot in the Indian ODI playing 11 with his immense class and talent that he has demonstrated consistently since 2022.

Absence Of Pant and Bumrah

The absence of Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant due to his injury would pave the way for his teammate Ishan Kishan, who consolidated his spot with his double-hundred performance against Bangladesh in December 2022. Also, the absence of Indian pace king Bumrah would mark an opportunity for young guns like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh.

India’s 18 Member (Predicted) Squad For Asia Cup Cricket 2023

India’s 18-man squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya (vc), Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Md. Siraj, Md.Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, and Sanju Samson.

This would be the most probable Indian squad for the 50-50 format of the Asia Cup, and Captain Sharma would look to have his best men at work to retain his win in the longer limited-overs format. With a new team setup under a new coach from the last edition, India will look for their first major tournament win.
