ICC ODI Team Rankings (India On Top): Before IND vs BAN World Cup 2023 Match. Team India has attained the top ranking in the ICC ODI Team Rankings, thanks to their consistent and outstanding performances. Indian cricket team strongly started the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign with three consecutive wins.

The Indian team maintains a comfortable lead in the head-to-head record against Bangladesh in ODI cricket. India has secured victory in 31 out of 40 ODI encounters against Shakib Al Hasan’s team, with Bangladesh winning eight matches, and one match ended with no result back in 2014.

The Indian cricket team’s next challenge will be against Bangladesh in the 17th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled at  Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Thursday, October 19. India has been in top form, ensuring three remarkable victories in their initial matches and presently leading in the tournament’s points table.

However, they’ve encountered some challenges, containing defeats in three of their last five ODI matches against Bangladesh. Under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh defeated India in their last ODI series in December 2022 and also emerged victorious in the recent Asia Cup 2023.

Bangladesh started the tournament with a convincing victory against Afghanistan but faced defeats in their two most recent matches against England and New Zealand. Their team captain, Shakib Al Hasan, is dealing with a nominal quad injury, but he wishes to recover in time for the important game against India.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s side, without any injury concerns, is likely to stick with the same playing eleven that secured a seven-wicket victory against  Pakistan.

India Secures Top Spot In The ODI Team Rankings

India has claimed the top spot in the ICC ODI team rankings with an impressive rating of 118, achieved through 47 matches and 5,542 points. This achievement can be given credit to consistent leadership under skipper Rohit Sharma, and the incredible contributions of key players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah.      

Furthermore, India’s win against Pakistan in their third match of the ODI World Cup 2023 was an important turning point. Led by extraordinary batting performances from Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, they secured a commanding 7-wicket win, further solidifying their lead in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 points table.

Pakistan Secures Second Position In ODI Team Rankings

Pakistan’s cricket team is currently positioned second in the ICC ODI Team Rankings under the captaincy of Babar Azam. They have accumulated 3,435 points with a rating of 115 from 30 matches. Pakistan showcased their remarkable performances in their initial two matches of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Thanks to game-changing players like Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Babar Azam, and Shaheen Afridi. Despite their recent loss to India in the ODI World Cup, Pakistan retains their second position in the ICC ODI Team Ranking.

South Africa Ascends To Third Place In ODI Team Rankings

South Africa is excelling in ODI cricket, currently occupying the third position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. They’ve overtaken Australia with 2,853 points accumulated from 26 matches, resulting in a rating of 110. However, in their last match in the ODI World Cup, South Africa encountered a setback, losing to the Netherlands by 38 runs at HPCA Stadium.
