Lucknow Super Giants Target Players In IPL 2022 Mega Auction

A total of 1214 players have registered their names for the mega auctions out of which a total of 250 players will be shortlisted and will go under the hammer on the two-day event.

In an interview with TOI, owner Sanjiv Goenka said that they want to build a team around both young and experienced players. They aim to select the players who can give at least 3-4 years to the team. He also added that the franchise is happy with the three players they have selected ahead of the auctions.

The Lucknow based franchise will be in search of an explosive opener who can pair up with KL Rahul in the opening slot. The franchise will be looking to acquire the services of explosive left hand batsman David Warner. Warner has made it clear that he does not wish to join SRH and has been released by them. Considering the short boundaries in Ekana Stadium, Warner will be the perfect pick for Lucknow. Warner will also bring his experience on the board and has the potential to become the vice-captain of the team.

The franchise will also like to add the experience of right arm seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has been released by SRH. Bhuvi is a local boy of Uttar Pradesh and can be an asset to the team in terms of their fan bases and marketing as locals will have a good connection with the state players.

Lucknow might strengthen their middle order by bringing left hand batsman Suresh Raina. Due to his dipping form, Raina has been released by CSK. The 35-year-old is a local boy of UP and has played for the state team in domestic cricket.

Here is a list of players that Lucknow can target:-

  • Suresh Raina
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar
  • David Warner
  • Shahrukh Khan
  • Rinku Singh
  • Shivam Mavi
  • Shikhar Dhawan
  • Jofra Archer
