News 13 January

BCCI is planning to conduct TATA IPL 2022 in Sri Lanka or South Africa as their Plan B if they’re unable to host in India due to the COVID19 situation. ( Source – Indian Express).

Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the Ahmedabad IPL team. Team management might pick Rashid Khan & Ishan Kiashn before the auction. 3 draft choice. (reported by PTI)

Ahmedabad & Lucknow IPL teams are set to get time till Jan 31st, 2022 to decide the draft picks for IPL 2022.

BCCI is preparing a plan B for hosting IPL 2022 with rising in Omicron cases with three venues in Mumbai hosting the league.

According to BCCI sources, IPL 2022 is likely to start on 2 April in Chennai. The 15th edition of IPL will have 74 matches and 10 teams. The tournament will run for around 60 days. The schedule has not been finalized yet.

Manchester United & Adani Group lost bidding to RPSG & CVC capital

All bids have been submitted. RPSG (Sanjeev Goenka) has submitted the highest bid (7000 cr) & CVC Capital (5200 cr) for new teams. New teams are likely to be announced soon.

CVC Capital for Ahmedabad & RPSG for Lucknow

Two new IPL cities and their owners’ names will be known today. Adani Group, Manchester United, Sanjeev Goenka & Naveen Jindal are serious bidders for new teams.

News 22nd October

8 IPL teams will be allowed to retain: Maximum 2 Overseas, Maximum 3 Indians. But the total number of retained players should be 4. (cricbuzz reports )

According to Outlook media, Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh are set to bid for the two new teams for the IPL 2022 season. BCCI will announce two new teams on 25th October in Dubai.

No Dhoni without CSK & no CSK without MS Dhoni – The BCCI has not announced the retention policy yet, the speculation market is hot about which players Chennai Super Kings will retain. Meanwhile, N Srinivasan, the owner of CSK, has given a big statement about Dhoni’s future. He said that CSK cannot be imagined without Dhoni. This means that CSK captain Mahi, who won the IPL four times under his captaincy, will be part of this team next year as well.

IPL 2022 will be held in India – Sourav Ganguly

After the second part of IPL 2021 which was successfully conducted in UAE, cricket lovers were wondering if the next season would also be outside the country, but BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly has expressed the hope that IPL 2022 will be held in India, with the spectators packed in the stadium.

Sony, Star India, and Reliance-backed Viacom18 would be the 3 major bidders for Television, media rights of the IPL 2023- 2027 cycle. Digital rights bidders for this cycle could be Netflix, Hotstar, Facebook Jio & Amazon. (Reports).  According to an estimate BCCI will earn around 36000 from media rights for 5 years.

BCCI is planning to auction for two new teams on October 25th. (Report cricbuzz) On Aug 31 BCCI invites bids to buy two IPL franchises.

BCCI Shortlisted Six Cities For Two New Teams (Report)

According to some reports BCCI has shortlisted six cities for new teams for IPL 2022. These are Ahmedabad (west), Cuttack (all east), Dharamshala (north), Guwahati, Lucknow, & Ranchi.

BCCI Is Expected To Earn 6000 Crores Through Team Bidding

IPL is all set to have new colors from 2022. The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League will feature two new teams from 8 to 10 for the new season. BCCI has set the base price for bidding to Rs. 2000 crores. World’s richest cricket Board is expecting Rs. 6000 crore earnings through team bidding.

Terms Of Bidding

Interested buyers can submit their details till October 5 and a decision will be taken the same month.

Any company can buy the bid document for new teams but they have to pay Rs 75 crore.

BCCI will only allow the companies with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 3000 crore for bidding.
