A lot of changes will be seen in the fifteenth edition of IPL to be held in 2022. Every team will be seen with new players, in a new color, form, and new attitude. The biggest change will be in the number of teams. IPL 2022 will have 10 teams instead of 8.

Obviously, with the addition of two new teams, the number of matches will also increase. The mega auction will also take place after the selection of new teams.

Currently, the team with 14 points in the qualifying round makes it to the last four. That is, after winning 7 out of 14 matches, the team enters the quarterfinals. From 2022 onwards, it will see a change. Because from this year 74 matches will be played instead of 60 in 60 days

Gujrat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will be two new teams in IPL 2022. There will be 74 matches in the tournament. ( out of 70 league matches, 12 will be double-header) Each team will play 14 matches in the league round.

TATA IPL 2022 will start on 26th March. Defending champion CSK will clash with KKR in the 1st match of IPL 2022 at Wankhede Stadium.

IPL 2022 Team Groups

Group A – Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow (LSG), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata (KKR), & Rajasthan (RR)
Group B – Bangalore (RCB), Chennai (CSK), Punjab (PBKS), Gujarat (GT), Hyderabad (SRH)

Each IPL team will play twice with all the teams in their respective group. For example, Mumbai will play 2 matches each against Kolkata, Rajasthan, LSG & DC. MI will also clash twice with Chennai but will play 1 match each against other teams in Group B of TATA IPL 2022

IPL 2022 Format

IPL 2022 will follow the same model as IPL 2011. In 2011 IPL, the home & away concept of matches was binned and all 10 IPL teams were divided into 2 groups consisting of 5 teams each.
