SA vs India Test Series 2023-24: India’s Probable Playing 11 And Updated Squad For Centurion Test. Following a historic ODI series victory in South Africa, the Indian cricket team is ready for a two-match Test series against the hosts. The series begins with a Boxing Day Test in Centurion on December 26 at SuperSport Park, followed by the second Test at Newlands starting on January 3. Led by Rohit Sharma, Team India is on a mission to secure their inaugural Test series triumph in South Africa and strengthen their position as the frontrunners in the World Test Championship 2023-25 Points table.

Despite having a nearly full squad, India will miss Mohammed Shami and Ishan Kishan during the upcoming IND vs SA Tests. The return of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah bolsters the team’s strength, along with the inclusion of other key players, shaping a formidable Test squad. Due to Mohammed Shami’s injury and Ishan Kishan’s personal reasons for opting out, the selectors have added KS Bharat as the backup wicketkeeper in India’s Test line-up.

Kohli and Rohit Sharma chose not to participate in the white-ball segment of the tour. “A family emergency necessitated Virat Kohli’s return to India. However, a BCCI official informed PTI on Friday that he is expected to rejoin the team before the start of the first Test.

Given the Test venue’s penchant for assisting pacers, experts anticipate Ravindra Jadeja’s appearance. However, the participation of top-ranked Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin remains uncertain for the IND vs SA 1st Test, with Shardul Thakur potentially filling his spot. Also, Spearheading the pace department will be Jasprit Bumrah, with Mohammed Siraj serving as the team’s secondary new ball bowler under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

India’s Probable Playing 11 For Centurion Test

For the first Test against South Africa, India’s likely playing 11: Captain Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeeper KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar.

In the opening Test, captain Rohit Sharma will team up with the young Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order. With Cheteshwar Pujara missing, Shubman Gill is set to occupy the No. 3 position, while Virat Kohli will claim the No. 4 spot, and Shreyas Iyer aims for the No. 5 position. Also, with Kishan unavailable, the team prefers KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper-batsman over KS Bharat. Previously an opener for India, Rahul is likely to bat at No. 6.
