Asia Cup 2023: BCCI Is Set Announce India Squad On August 21: The squads for Team India, Afghanistan, and Asia Cup 2023 co-host Sri Lanka are yet to be announced. In the most recent developments, the BCCI is almost set to announce the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023 on August 21st.

According to News 18, the BCCI may declare the team soon after the meeting on Sunday, August 20. According to prior reports, the main reason for the announcement is the fitness of three key players: Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. Jasprit Bumrah is back in action for India in the T20 series against Ireland. While KL Rahul and Shreyash Iyer are now practicing for the selection at NCA Bangalore.

According to reports, the BCCI selection committee and Rohit Sharma, the current Indian skipper, will attend the meeting to choose the team. Shreyas Iyer’s selection is uncertain, although he is healthy and putting a lot of effort into his training at NCA, according to other press reports.

Other news includes the fact that KL Rahul is completely well and fine and that, like Jasprit Bumrah, his selection is nearly certain. Iyer’s back problem has kept him out of the Indian squad since the IPL, while Rahul’s hamstring injury has kept him out as well.

One of the important topics that will be discussed at the meeting is Tilak Varma, whose debut against the West Indies was spectacular. Tilak Varma can be a candidate for the number one spot in the 2023 World Cup and Asia Cup, according to the BCCI.

Sanju Samson Might Face Another Heart Break.

RR captain Samson Sanju, regarded as the unluckiest cricketer, may suffer another heartbreak as the BCCI may dismiss him from the squads for the forthcoming Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. The BCCI intends to dismiss him from the team after he failed to play effectively in the last series against the West Indies.

According to reports, Sanju was playing the roles of No. 4 batsman and wicketkeeper. However, the availability of Ishan Kishan and the fitness assessment of KL Rahul may render Sanju Samson ineligible for the Asia Cup squad.

Another reason why Sanju Samson may be omitted is that India now has too many choices for No. 4. With the fitness of KL and Iyer and the availability of Suryakumar Yadav, the BCCI may decide to drop Sanju Samson. Samson is currently playing against Ireland with the Indian team.
