Lucknow Super Giants is one of the two new teams of IPL 2022 which was bought by Sanjeev Goenka for 7090 crores. KL Rahul, who was the captain of Punjab Kings in VIVO IPL 2021, was picked by this franchise by paying a huge amount of 17 crores and handed over the captaincy of the team. The other two players picked by it were Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi.

The mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants team is Gautam Gambhir, while Andy Flower, the former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, is the head coach and Vijay Dahiya is the assistant coach of this team.
After the draft pick of three players, this team had 58.2 crores in its purse. Avesh Khan, who took 24 wickets in 16 matches while playing for Delhi last season, is the most expensive Indian player bought by Lucknow in the auction.
It is worth noting that any team of IPL should have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players.
