DAVID WARNER

It was a season to forget for David Warner in the VIVO IPL 2021. Firstly, he was axed mid-way from the captaincy. To make things worse, the dynamite opener was not even picked in the playing XI after the first 8 games. He could manage to score just 195 runs in 8 innings.

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Warner had a slow start. But, in the last three matches, he returned to form and is the leading run-scorer for Australia with 289 runs in 7 innings, including 3 half-centuries. His strike rate has also improved from 107 in IPL 2021 to 145 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

AIDEN MARKRAM

Aiden Markram joined Punjab Kings as the replacement for England’s David Malan in the UAE leg. However, he could not impress the franchise owners. He could manage to score only 146 runs in 6 matches. Markram represented South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, he played a vital role. The South African middle-order batsman scored 162 runs in 5 innings, including 2 half-centuries. His strike rate was also an astonishing 146.

SHAKIB AL HASAN

Kolkata Knight Riders had a lot of expectations from their reliable spinner Shakib al Hasan. However, he could not live up to the expectation of the team management. He appeared for 8 matches for the KKR, but the all-rounder could only manage to score 47 runs while picking just 4 wickets.

If we compare his performance with that of the ICC T20 World cup 2021, Shakib performed well for his national side scoring 131 runs in 6 matches. On the bowling front, the Bangladesh all-rounder scalped 11 wickets.

TRENT BOULT

Trent Boult had a quite IPL if we look at his reputation. Regarded As one of the best limited-overs bowlers, Trent Boult picked only 13 wickets in 14 games for Mumbai Indians. His economy rate of close to 8 was also a shade higher. The kiwi pace bowler has performed better if we compare his IPL 2021 bowling performance with ICC T20 world Cup 2021 bowling performance.

In the 7 games, Trent Boult has picked 13 wickets. He has troubled the openers with impeccable line length. Trent Boult will play a crucial role in the finals if New Zealand fancies their chances to lift the trophy this year.

WANINDU HASARANGA

The Sri Lankan pace bowler Wanindu Hasaranga came to the limelight courtesy of his excellent performance during the T20 and ODI series against India. He was later drafted into the RCB squad for the IPL 2021 part 2. A lot of expectations were there from Wanindu Hasaranga. He got to play 2 games and failed to pick a single wicket.

However, ICC T20 World Cup 2021 has been a year to remember for Hasaranga. In 8 matches played, Wanindu Hasaranga tops the list of the highest wicket-takers with 16 wickets. There is also a possibility of him retaining this spot at the end of the tournament because the second-highest wicket-taker in the list is Adam Zampa with 11 wickets.
