IPL 2024: Four Players Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Can Target In The Auction. IPL 2023 witnessed some of the most intriguing contests as this edition was very close in terms of the playoffs qualifications. Although the four best teams qualified for the semi-finals, it wasn’t easy to predict who would finish in the top four. Chennai Super Kings won the trophy for the 5th time as MS Dhoni once again showcased why he is considered the best captain. Amidst this, one of the teams that couldn’t stand up to its reputation was Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

SRH had some of the finest upcoming talents but they couldn’t gel despite having the right balance as the team finished at the bottom with just 8 points. Franchise owners have now begun to prepare for the next season and they would like to target players who can be consistent match winners.

1. Devdutt Padikkal

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting struggled in the middle order during the 2023 season so the franchise owners will look to target him for the next season. The left-hander was bought for a sum of INR 7.75 crore during the 2023 season by Rajasthan Royals as the 23-year-old scored 261 runs in 11 games with a strike rate of 130.50.

SRH needs a batsman who can build the innings from one end in the middle order and Padikkal is a combination of calmness and effortless batting.

2. Prithvi Shaw

Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting young prospects of Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw is a classy stroke player. The 24-year-old hasn’t still taken the Indian Premier League (IPL) by storm keeping his calibre in mind. He was retained for a sum of INR 8 crore by Delhi Capitals during the 2023 auctions. The Mumbai-born might be Sunrisers Hyderabad’s target in IPL 2024 auction.

Shaw can provide acceleration as an opener as well as at no 3. The right-hander is a combination of aggression and elegance. Shaw has so far scored 1694 runs in 71 IPL games with a strike rate of 145.78 registering 13 half-centuries.

3. Adam Zampa

The Australian leg spinner can be a vital source in any team. The 31-year-old can outsmart the batsmen with flight and turn. The New South Wales leg spinner was bought for a sum of INR 1.50 crore by Rajasthan Royals during the 2023 season. Zampa is a tricky operator when it comes to his faster ones and variations as he is difficult to read especially in the shorter as well as the limited overs format.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will try to target him as they don’t have a penetrative leg spinner who can take crucial wickets. So far he has done a decent job in his IPL career picking 29 wickets in 17 IPL games with best figures of 6/19. He took 8 wickets in 6 IPL games in the 2023 season.

4. Shivam Mavi

One of the stars of the 2018 under-19 world cup, Mavi impressed everyone with his pace and swing. The 25-year-old played a big role in that world cup in New Zealand. The Uttar Pradesh-born can surprise the batters with his pace, bounce, and swing.

He was bought for a sum of INR 6 crore by Gujarat Titans during the 2023 auctions. He can be one of the targets for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the next season. Mavi is also a handy batter at no 7 or 8 as he can hit the ball powerfully. The 25-year-old has so far taken 30 wickets in 32 IPL games so far with best figures of 4/21.
