IPL 2023 Mini Auction: 3 Released Players Who Might Go Unsold In The Auction. The IPL 2023 mini-auction, is all set to take place at Kochi on December 23rd, 2022. The IPL franchises have requested BCCI to prepone the event by a few days. The reason for the same is the Christmas festival, as few of the franchise members will find it difficult to attend the auction. The final decision on this will be taken by next week. As of now, December 23rd is the date when a lot of players will go under the hammer in Kochi.

85 players were released by the 10 franchises before the IPL 2023 mini-auction. This includes quite a few prominent players, who were an integral part of the success of their team in previous years. However, the team management could get their trust in them. Hence, they were released. Let us look at the 3 released players, who might get unsold in the IPL 2023 auction:

3 Released Players Who Might Get Unsold In The Auction

MOHAMMAD NABI

Mohammad Nabi, the veteran cricketer of Afghanistan was brought by KKR in the IPL 2022 mega auction. But, he did not get a single game to play. In fact, his stint with SRH was also just for paper, as the all-rounder got the opportunity to play in only 4 matches combined in 2020 and 2021.

Mohammad Nabi has announced his retirement from International cricket recently. But, he has not hanged his boot from other cricket leagues. But, seeing the age of 38 years, we feel the time and come for the Afghanistan player to be sidelined.

In T20Is in 2022, Mohammad Nabi’s batting average is just 11 and his bowling average is 30. He has picked up just 11 wickets in 18 matches. Talking about his IPL performance, Nabi has scored 180 runs in 14 innings at an average of 15. He has picked 13 wickets in 17 innings at an economy of 7.14.

AJINKYA RAHANE

Ajinkya Rahane was once a key player at the top of the order in the IPL. But, over the last 3 years, things have taken a u-turn for him. Rahane was brought by KKR in the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs 1 crore when none of the other teams showed interest in him. But, Rahane failed miserably in the edition, scoring just 133 runs in 7 matches, with a poor strike rate of 103.

Rahane got injured and was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022. It won’t be wrong to say that Rahane might have played his last IPL match. The thing which goes against Ajinkya Rahane is his inability to score quick runs. The T20 format demands aggressive cricket and this is where Rahane does not fit in.

Nowadays, a lot of young talent has come up, who can score runs from the word go. Ajinkya Rahahe, in 158 matches, has scored 4074 runs, at an average of 30.86 and a strike rate of 120.68. He also has 2 centuries to his name.

DWAYNE BRAVO

Dwayne Bravo’s stint of 10 years with CSK finally ended when the team management decided to release him before the IPL 2023 mini-auction. The CSK franchise said that they were skeptical about the age factor Bravo and his deteriorating fitness. Bravo is 39 years old and his reflexes have reduced drastically over the last few years.

He is no longer a hard hitter and struggles against pace bowling. His bowling is also not lethal anymore. Dwayne Bravo was a regular member of CSK over the last 10 years. He played a few memorable innings with the bat and also picked wickets with his change of pace bowling. But, as it is said in cricket, there comes a time when you are replaced and you need to move on.

Dwayne Bravo, in 161 matches scored 1560 runs at an average of 23 and strike-rate of 130. He picked 183 wickets at an economy of 8.83.
