KIERON POLLARD

Mumbai Indians retained Kieron Pollard for 6 crores before IPL 2022 mega auction. However, he did not do justice to his price money and the franchise’s expectations. Pollard had a season to forget in 2022, where he scored only 144 runs in 11 runs and picked only 4 innings. It seems that Kieron Pollard’s dream run with his Mumbai Indian franchise will come to an end before the IPL 2023 auction. Also, he has announced retirement from international cricket, so we should not be surprised if he calls it to quit from the IPL as well.

AXAR PATEL

Axar Patel, the all-rounder from Delhi Capitals, was retained by the franchise for a whopping 9 crores. But he has completely disappointed his fans. Axar Patel, in 10 innings, scored just 182 runs and picked up only 6 wickets. He was off-color throughout the season and was one of the reasons why Delhi lacked a good all-rounder apart from Ashwin. Axar Patel will surely be one of the players Delhi Capitals can release ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

MOHAMMED SIRAJ

RCB retained the tall fast bowler Mohammed Siraj for 7 crores before the IPL 2022 mega auction. But, his performance throughout the season was way below the expectations. Siraj managed to pick only 9 wickets in 15 matches. In fact, the team management even did not include him in playing X1 in the last few games for RCB. This clearly shows the lack of confidence in Mohammed Siraj, and he can be released before IPL 2023 auction.

VARUN CHAKRAVARTHY

Varun Chakravarthy was one of those players who, despite the big IPL 2022 retention amount, failed to deliver in the 15th edition. KKR had retained him ahead of the IPL 2022 auction by paying 8 crores, but it backfired them. Varun Chakravarthy picked only 6 wickets in 11 innings. He was wicketless in more than 5 innings this season. KKR will surely release him ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

VENKATESH IYER

Another KKR player Venkatesh Iyer, among those in the retained lists, was disappointed with his performance in the IPL 2022. The team management invested 8 crores in him, hoping he would continue his good performance of the 14th edition. But, Venkatesh Iyer could not live up to the expectation of the franchise. He scored just 182 runs in 12 matches. We should not be surprised if the KKR team management releases him ahead of the IPL 2023 auction
