In a major development, BCCI is planning to conduct the IPL 2022 Ahmedabad & Maharashtra. The league-stage matches of IPL 2022 will be played in Maharashtra, while playoffs and final will be played in Ahmedabad.

BCCI is planning to organize IPL 2022 league stage matches in Maharashtra

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed last week that IPL 2022 will start in the last week of March and the final will be played on 30th or 31st May.

In case the situation worsens due to COVID-19 in the country, the tournament, like the last season, would be moved to the UAE. Last time due to Corona, IPL had to be stopped midway in the month of May and the rest of the matches were held in September-October in UAE.

This time there will be 10 teams ( Ahmedabad, Lucknow Super Giants, CSK, MI, DC, RCB, PBKS, RR, SRH & KKR) in IPL 2022. And there will be a total of 74 matches including the final whereas last time there were a total of 60 matches.

IPL 2022 Venues

Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai) Brabourne Stadium, and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, near Pune, could be the four possible venues where the IPL 2022 league-stage matches to be conducted. The playoff matches are likely to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Will spectators be allowed to enter the stadium this time?

According to some reports, BCCI could allow a 25 percent audience in league-stage matches. In the first few reports, it was said that like last time in this IPL also due to the threat of corona, spectators will not be allowed in the stadium. But in view of the decreasing cases of corona infection for the last few days, the board may allow 25 percent of the audience to come. This time the mega auction will be held in Bangalore on February 12 and 13.
