Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought a total of 21 players in the auction, out of which 15 are Indians and 6 foreign players. Kolkata had retained four players ( Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy & Venkatesh Iyer) before the auction and had 56 crores left in their purse. In IPL 2022, the team will have a total fleet of 25 players (maximum squad a team can have) of which 8 will be foreigners. Kolkata spent 31.75 crores out of a total of 90 crores on foreign players.

This time Shreyas Iyer will captain the two-time IPL champion KKR, which was bought by the team in the auction for 12.25 crores.
