IPL 2024: Four Players Mumbai Indians (MI) Can Target In The Auction. Mumbai Indians have been one of the best sides in the history of IPL winning 5 IPL titles as the team has gelled well under the captaincy of India skipper Rohit Sharma. The team finished fourth in the points table in the IPL 2023 season as the absence of India pacer Jasprit Bumrah somewhat affected the team’s performance.

The franchisee owners have been preparing for the next season and might look to make additions in the pace department or even try to add an extra batsman who can up the ante at the top.

The Mumbai-based franchise made a valuable addition in the form of Australian all-rounder Cameroon Green but adding an extra specialist batsman or a bowler might also be an option. The team management and franchisee owners have started negotiations regarding this.

1.Alex Hales

The former England T20I opener recently announced his retirement from International cricket. The 34-year-old had an impressive track record in T20 as well as the limited overs format. Mumbai Indian might tempt him with an attractive offer so as to add width to the top order. The right-hander can smash the ball a long way as we all know with his destructive hitting.

He was bought for a sum of INR 1.5 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2022 auctions. Although Hales has just played just 6 IPL games so far scoring 148 runs his T20I record is quite impressive where he registered 2074 runs in 75 T20Is with a highest score of 116 and a strike rate of 138.36.

2.Chris Woakes

Woakes was the prime bowler for the Three Lions in the recently concluded Ashes series where he took 19 wickets. The 34-year-old has this knack for picking key wickets during critical situations. His deceptive length sometimes makes it difficult for the batsmen at times. Mumbai Indians might have a go at him during the next auctions.

His clever change of pace is difficult to negotiate in shorter formats where the batsmen try to score runs on every ball. He has done a decent job in his IPL career so far taking 30 wickets in 21 IPL games with best figures of 3/6.

3.Harshal Patel

The 33-year-old bowled decently for the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2023 season taking 13 wickets in 14 IPL games with best figures of 3/32. The Sanand-born can bowl clever leg cutters during the run of the play by making the batters play false shots.

He can also bowl clever slower bouncers. He was bought for a sum of INR 10.75 crore by the RCB during the 2023 auctions. He has so far taken 111 wickets in 91 IPL games. Mumbai Indians franchise owners will be interested to buy him looking at his numbers.

4.Mitchell Starc

After a wonderful season against England in the Ashes series where the pacer played a crucial role for Australia by taking 23 wickets, Mumbai Indians might take a keen interest in him. The 34-year-old is penetrative with his upright seam position and swing. He can topple any batting lineup with his quick yorkers. Starc was bought for a sum of INR 9.4 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 but the pacer couldn’t play that season due to an injury.

He didn’t take part in the 2023 IPL season to prepare for Australia’s assignments in June & July. The left-arm pacer has taken 34 wickets in 27 IPL games with best figures of 4/15. If Starc participates in the 2024 season then he might be Mumbai Indians sought after targets.
