IPL 2026 – Retention List And Released Players. The IPL 2026 auction is just around the corner, and all ten teams have publicly announced their retention lists. From fantastic releases to purse boosts to long-term boldness, teams are starting to build the next three IPL cycles.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – 16 Retained | ₹43.40 Cr Purse Remaining
Chennai Super Kings have one of the boldest lists this year, retaining MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, and Dewald Brevis. They shifted to key all-rounders like Shivam Dube and Jamie Overton. The CSK have released multiple big names, including Devon Conway, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Matheesha Pathirana and Rachin Ravindra, for a massive auction purse of ₹43.40 crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – 12 Retained | ₹64.3 Cr Purse Remaining
KKR has decided to take on maximum flexibility, retaining only 12 players, the lowest of all teams. Their core of players includes Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Varun Chakravarthy and Umran Malik. KKR released superstars Andre Russell, Quinton de Kock, Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Anrich Nortje to create one of the highest scrapped amounts in the IPL 2026—a whopping ₹64.3 crore purse.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) – 19 Retained | ₹22.95 Cr Purse Remaining
LSG continues their foundational structure of Rishabh Pant (C), Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Mohsin Khan, and promising fast bowler Mayank Yadav.
Notable releases include David Miller, Ravi Bishnoi, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Akash Deep, and S. Thakur, which gives LSG just under ₹23 crores to spend.
Gujarat Titans (GT) – 20 Retained | ₹12.9 Cr Purse Remaining
GT has kept their championship-focused core of Shubman Gill (C), Jos Buttler, Md. Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Tewatia, and Washington Sundar.
The overseas players released are Sherfane Rutherford, Dasun Shanaka, and Gerald Coetzee. GT carries a purse of ₹12.9 crore into the auction.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) – 16 Retained | ₹16.05 Cr Purse Remaining
RR made headlines with the purchase and retention of Ravindra Jadeja and the retention of Sam Curran and D Ferreira. Their core includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Jofra Archer, and Tushar Deshpande.
RR released Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana. They will enter the auction with ₹16.05 crore.
Mumbai Indians (MI) – 20 Retained | ₹2.75 Cr Purse Remaining
MI are continuing with their experience of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Trent Boult but are almost at the limit of their purse with only ₹2.75 crores available to spend.
Significant releases include Reece Topley, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Arjun Tendulkar.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) – 17 Retained | ₹16.40 Cr Purse Left
RCB keeps their stars Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt, and Josh Hazlewood. They have now released Liam Livingstone, Mayank Agarwal and Lungi Ngidi, making for a strong auction purse of ₹16.40 crore.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) – 21 Retained | ₹11.50 Cr Purse Left
PBKS retains Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal, easily making this one of the most balanced squads. Among the principal release players are Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis and Kuldeep Sen.
Delhi Capitals (DC) – 17 Retained | ₹21.8 Cr Purse Left
DC keeps on KL Rahul, Axar Patel (C), Tristan Stubbs, Abishek Porel and Kuldeep Yadav. The team has freed up ₹21.8 crore with Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk, along with Donovan Ferreira, being key releases.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – 15 Retained | ₹25.50 Cr Purse Left
SRH will enter the auction with great financial power and a very good squad to choose from, having Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Harshal Patel.
They released Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa and Simarjeet Singh, giving them ₹25.50 crore – the second-highest purse available.
