IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians (MI) Can Release 4 Players Before Auction. Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Mumbai Indians (MI) are expected to undergo significant squad changes. Despite fielding one of the weakest bowling line-ups in IPL 2023. MI exceeded expectations and secured a playoff berth in the 16th season of IPL. They emerged victorious against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator but fell short against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 2.

Although Rohit Sharma-led MI performed decently in IPL 2023, some fans believed that a stronger bowling attack could have propelled them to the title. In this article, we explore four players who are likely to be released by the Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2024 Auction.

1.Chris Jordan

After Jofra Archer’s injury, Mumbai Indians included Chris Jordan in their squad with high expectations for his performance in the death overs. However, Jordan failed to meet those expectations, leading to disappointment for the team. His inclusion in the team proved to be costly for Mumbai. Considering his underwhelming performance, it is unlikely that Jordan will be offered another contract by Mumbai Indians in the future.

2.Arshad Khan

Arshad Khan, an uncapped pacer, had raised the expectations of Mumbai Indians fans ahead of the 2023 season. Having been associated with the team for a considerable period and showcasing dedication during practice sessions, there was optimism surrounding his performance.

Unfortunately, Arshad could not make a significant impression, managing to take only five wickets in six matches with an economy rate of 13.41. His underwhelming display did not meet the anticipated standards, leaving fans somewhat disappointed with his contribution during the season.

3.Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen showcased a commendable performance in the 2022 season, earning him another opportunity to play for the team in 2023. However, his performance in the subsequent season did not live up to expectations. In eight matches, he managed to take only three wickets, conceding 23 runs.

These numbers raise concerns for the management, and they will likely carefully evaluate whether to retain him in the team for future matches. The lack of impactful contributions from Hrithik Shokeen during the 2023 season leaves his place in the team uncertain.

4.Duan Jansen

Marco Jansen’s twin brother, Duan, is facing uncertainty regarding his future contract with Mumbai Indians (MI). Despite being a part of the team, Duan has only played a single match for Mumbai. Unfortunately, in that match, he struggled to find his rhythm, conceding 53 runs for just one wicket in four overs.

Given his underwhelming performance, MI may choose to release him next year. However, they might consider reacquiring him in the future, perhaps after two years, if he shows significant improvement in his bowling abilities. The decision regarding Duan’s future with Mumbai Indians hinges on his ability to enhance his skills and make a stronger impact on the field.
