LSG appear to have a good balance in their first XI, with Pooran’s inclusion in the middle order adding a much-needed overseas player. This gives Hooda and Badoni room to breathe and also makes life easier for De Kock and Rahul at the top and Pandya at the number seven spot.

The team is relying on Bishnoi to regain his former form after the uninspiring 2022 IPL season, as well as Mohsin to keep the second-season blues away and continue to do well with the ball. It is essential that Wood is fit and playing with vigour as this would help solve their death-overs issues as well as aid Avesh Khan in regaining his top form.

Their team has a large range of backups they can call on when needed. For instance, Shepherd and Sams were chosen to replace Stoinis and if Krunal needs to be substituted, Krishnappa Gowtham is ready to step in. They also have spin backups in the form of Karn Sharma and Amit Mishra. If Avesh’s struggles continue, the team can bring in Unadkat to join the first-choice pace attack.

LSG might think about using Gowtham, the off-spinner, to face certain left-handed batters. If the middle order has too many overseas players, then Manan Vohra or Prerak Mankad could be asked to come in as a replacement to deal with the opponent’s spin bowlers. Furthermore, an exchange of Unadkat and Avesh should be considered to provide better control.
