Will MS Dhoni Play In IPL 2024: This Is How CSK Squad May Look Like In The 17th Season: The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 concluded on May 29, with the yellow Brigade, (Chennai Super Kings) led by MS Dhoni, winning their fifth IPL title after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the IPL 2023 Final.

With season 16 of the lucrative league completed, the ten IPL franchises will focus on planning and strategizing for the upcoming tournament (IPL 2024). CSK will be under the spotlight for their performance as the reigning champions, and fans will want them to duplicate their past performance in IPL 2024 as well.

The interesting contest was Ambati Rayudu’s final outing in the cash-rich league, as the experienced batter had revealed before IPL 2023 final that he will hang up his boots after CSK’s final match against Gujarat Titans.

Rayudu played for Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2010 to 2017 and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2018 to 2023 throughout his 13-year IPL career. After several years with MI, the seasoned hitter joined CSK in 2018.

Will MS Dhoni Play IPL 2024?

IPL 2023 was generally believed to be Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s last season. However, the 41-year-old great has placed doubt on such expectations, revealing that he would want to return to CSK for IPL 2024 if his fitness permits.

Dhoni was commenting after his side won its sixth IPL championship, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets on the last ball of the competition. In addition, it was Dhoni’s fifth IPL triumph in his 10th IPL final appearance.

When Harsha Bhogle questioned Dhoni, he stated, “Circumstantially, if you see, it’s the best time to announce the retirement.” The fans have been really supportive. Thank you and goodbye are the easiest things for me to say.

No one, as a fan of MS Dhoni and the sort of icon he is, wants him to leave altogether. However, he is also human, and given his age, we cannot make decisions for him.

MS has already performed wonders for the country and CSK. MSD’s main focus right now is on training young cricketers and preparing them for national service. All we can hope for as fans is that he plays at least one more season.

This Is How CSK May Look Like In IPL 2024

Given CSK’s success this year, they may not make significant changes for next year. However, there is still a potential that they will discover some participants prior to the auction.

Players that might be released by CSK include.

Sisanda Magala: For the IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have replaced Kiwi all-rounder Kyle Jamieson with South African spinner Sisanda Magala. Jamieson was had to withdraw from the IPL 2023 due to an injury. However, this South African bowler hasn’t performed well, thus CSK could let him go.

Ben Stokes: Ben Stokes is an English all-rounder who stunned the world by winning his country’s World Cup in 2019. Despite having an illustrious career, he failed to make an impression this year in the IPL. Stokes was too pricey for CSK, and based on his performance, the team may consider releasing him and acquiring two or three solid all-rounders

Kyle Jamieson: Kyle Jamieson is a Kiwi pacer for which CSK paid a whopping 1 crore. However, he has not played this season due to a reoccurring back problem that necessitates surgery. Given his ailments, CSK may release him since they will not pay such a high price for a non-performing asset.

Mitchell Santner: Mitchell Santner is another Kiwi on the list of upcoming releases. Santner was purchased by CSK for 1.9 crores owing to his Allround Abilities. however, he did not succeed. Santner has only played three matches, scoring one run and taking three wickets. This might be the cause for his release.

CSK does not have an experienced bowling lineup in the pace attack this year. They may look for some strong quick bowlers for the IPL. Also, Chennai has to look for some finisher as Ambati Rayudu has retired and MSD has still not confirmed whether he will play or not.
