T20 World Cup 2024 Qualification Scenario: How Can Pakistan Still Qualify For Super 8 After Two Losses. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team made the Pakistani team suffer their second consecutive defeat in the tournament, leaving the men in green struggling for breath. After the USA defeated them, Babar Azam-led Pakistan faced yet another close loss by 6 runs against India.

After two wins India and the USA are now the favorites for progressing into the Super 8s from Group A. After that, Pakistan will have a tough road ahead if they are to stage any resemblance of their comeback back in 2022 and stand any chances of qualify for the next round.

How Can Pakistan Still Qualify For Super 8 After Two Losses

Firstly, what Pakistan needs to do now is to win the rest games with Canada and Ireland. However, this will not be enough because they have lost twice already so other teams especially India must help them. The next match of team India is against USA and if they lose then it means that they still keep winning which causes the USA to drop points; in case the USA drops both of their remaining matches then Pakistan may level up with them by also winning all of their games.

Accordingly, the victory against the USA requires Pakistan to defeat India and Ireland as well. What comes next is the ‘net run rate’. At this point, the USA has a net run rate of +0.626, while Pakistan has -0.150. So, it will be important for Pakistan to win big in its last two matches and hope that the USA loses heavily to get into the top eight. But if the USA wins one of its remaining two games, Pakistan has no chance left to qualify.

Match Summary: India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan’s bowlers performed brilliantly, dismissing India for 119 runs only. Rishabh Pant played an innings of 42 runs off 28 balls in an otherwise faltering batting performance. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah both got three wickets each and Mohammad Amir took two.

Having to chase down 119, Pakistan lost Babar Azam early on but a resilient 31 by Mohammad Rizwan kept their hopes alive. At 72-2, Pakistan seemed to be well on track for victory, but an astonishing fall of wickets saw them score only 40 runs off the last 46 balls while losing six wickets.

India’s hero was Jasprit Bumrah who bowled an exceptional spell taking 4-13 in 4 overs to be the man of the match. Hardik Pandya also chipped in with 2 wickets for 24 runs. Having lost this game, Pakistan now has a 7-1 record versus India at T20 World Cups having only won one match in all ICC events until now.
