Super Comeback of the Indian Cricket Team

Gavaskar-Border series is going on between India and Australia. It is scheduled from 27 November 2020 to 19 January 2021. These series include four tests, three ODIs (One Day Internationals), and three T20I (Twenty20 International) matches. It was first proposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in February 2020 on playing one of the Test matches as a day/night fixture. NSW Government, with Sydney and Canberra, approved this tour of limited-overs matches. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed by Cricket Australia after four days.

On 9 November 2020, the Indian Cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli was granted paternity leave and BCCI also announced that Kohli will leave the tour after the first Test match. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney in December 2020, Cricket Australia gave thought to swap the venues or avoid traveling between states. Finally, on 29 December 2020, they confirmed that they are sticking to the schedule but the crowd capacity of the Sydney Cricket Ground was reduced at a high percentage from 50% to 25%.

In Virat Kohli’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane lead the team for test series. Australia took lead in the series by winning  first as well as the second ODI matches. India won the third ODI match by 13 runs. The scene was quite average for the T20I series. The first and second T20I matches were won by India, where Australia won the third and final match by 12 runs. However, the whole of India got into a shock watching the first Test match on 21 December 2020 where the Indian cricket team was bowled out for just 36 runs in the second innings. This score was their lowest team total in a Test match ever. No cricket team had this kind of low score since 2000.

This Test result caused a lot of trolls and disgraces for the Indian cricket team. Even some worldwide legendary cricketers also made fun of them. A bunches of posts and tweets blew away the social media in this regard. The Indians were disappointed and the neighboring countries were making fun of them. Not only that, the president of the BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, one of the most respected persons in India, was also mocked and blamed for his negligence towards the Indian cricket team. But everything has to see its end! All of the people, who were engaged in mocking the Indian cricket team, got their answer exactly on the next match.

In the second Test match starting from 26 December 2020 to 30 December 2020, the Indian cricket team made a huge comeback gaining victory by 8 wickets against Australia. This match was like a New Year gift for the Indian supporters.

Before 3rd test which was schedule from 7th to 11th January most of the players ( Rohit,Bumrah, Shami ) were injured, ,Jadeja, Ashwin,Hanuma, Pant was also suffering from pain hamstrings. And when Australia made 338 in first inning and 312 in second, India all out on 244 at that time nobody was expecting that Indian palyers could save this match, but miracles happens, and then entire world saw the the commitment and dedication of team India’s new wall Hanuma Vihari, and R Ashwin. Rishabh Pant’s superb and much awaited 97 runs, Pujara’s 77. At one time India was 280/5. And there was only 5 wickets between Australian team’s win. But Hanuma and Ashwin snatch the win from Australia’s hand.

This series will get over with the fourth and the final Test match on 19 January. Whatever the final result stands out, the rise and fall that the Indian cricket team witnessed were noteworthy. They fell flat on their face and also rose with dignity. Even if the final result of this series doesn’t go on their behalf, this super comeback will be cherished for a long time.
