91* vs. Sri Lanka, Mumbai, 2011 ICC World cup final

When we talk about the most remarkable innings from MSD, it has to be his knock in the ICC World Cup 2011. Dhoni had a quit World cup, but it seems he had kept his best for the best day. Dhoni promoted himself ahead of Yuvraj Singh and played a match-winning 91* in a pressure situation.

He had a good partnership with Gautam Gambhir. Dhoni finished the match with a six and ended India’s 28 years wait to lift the World Cup. India chased the target of 275 with 10 balls to spare.

183* vs. Sri Lanka, Jaipur, 2005

Dhoni’s highest score came against Sri Lanka in the year 2005. India was leading the series 2-0. In the third match, Sri Lanka scored 298. With 299 runs to win, Dhoni was promoted to the third number position. He slaughtered the Sri Lankan bowling attack hitting 10 sixes in 183*.

Dhoni finished the match for India with more than 4 overs to spare. This was also the highest score by any wicket-keeper batsmen.

92* vs. South Africa, Indore, 2015

This memorable knock came when India was reduced to 104/5. Dhoni helped team India to reach a modest total of 247/9 in 50 overs. This knock of Dhoni included 7 fours and 4 sixes. He played a very patient innings in the starting, but towards the end, he exploded.

The total of 247 was enough for India as they restricted the proteas to 225 runs. His knock of 92* earned him the man of the match award.

113* vs. Pakistan, Chennai, 2013

When we talk about one of the most remarkable recoveries by India after losing early wickets, it has to be this game. India has reduced to 29/5 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the first match of the three-match series in Chennai.

Dhoni came to bat and stole the show. He scored 113* in 125 balls scoring 3 sixes and 7 boundaries. India scored 227 runs, but they were on the losing side, as Pakistan chased the target with 4 wickets down. Dhoni was named as the player of the match.

148 vs. Pakistan, Vizag, 2005

Dhoni’s first ODI century came against Pakistan in the year 2005. This was the second ODI of 6 match series. India lost Sachin early. Then Dhoni came to bat at number three. He smoked 148 runs in 123 balls guiding India to a mammoth total of 356 runs in 20 overs.

In reply, Pakistan fell short by 58 runs. These heroics from Dhoni was enough for him to bag the man of the match award.
