When the Tokyo Olympics 2021 was starting, no one could have believed that the Indian men’s hockey team would create history after 41 years in this Olympics. There was a reason for this hopelessness. The national sport, which has a golden history and in which India has won the most medals (11+1) so far, has been in the Olympics for many years, sometimes sixth, sometimes seventh, and sometimes eighth.

The last time India had won a hockey medal was at the Mosco Olympics was in 1980 when our team won its last gold. Now, a 41-year curse has finally been broken, thanks to the entire hockey team who beat Germany by 5-4 and revived the national game of India again.

Out of the field, Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik contributed a lot to this victory, who helped possibly by sponsoring the men’s and women’s hockey teams in this cricket-crazy country.
