India has not achieved much in the Olympics except hockey. That too was when India’s golden era in hockey was going on. From 1928 to 1956 (Dhyanchand to Bhaskaran) India won 8 gold in hockey. In which gold kept coming in India’s bag six consecutive times. (1928,32,36,48,52,56,64 & 1980 )

The last time India got a gold medal in this sport was in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. The captain of the team was Vasudev Bhaskaran. Since then, Indian hockey has been going downhill continuously. And the Indian team, which once dominated hockey, has not won even a bronze medal in the Olympics since 1980.
