Updated WTC 2025 Points Table After IND vs AUS 1st Test Match: India registers a resounding achievement by defeating Australia in the First Test by 295 runs which took place in Peth. Captain Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Man of the Match with figures of 8/72 in two innings, while Mohammed Siraj took five wickets in the second innings. After this thumping victory India reclaimed No 1 spot in WTC 2025 points table

Leading the ruthless attack was a century by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli, while the Australian batsmen struggled to manage only 104 and 238 in their innings.

This terrific win showed the all-around strength of India in the Australian conditions; their bowlers made sure that they gained early dominance by skittling Australia for paltry numbers in their first innings. Resisted by their batters, who posted an impressive total of 487 runs in the 2nd innings, the woes for Australia continued as they crumbled in their second innings, one of their heaviest defeats against India. However, this was the perfect start for India in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, underscoring its importance as part of the WTC campaign.

The victory improved India’s position in the updated WTC 2025 points table. With 110 points on a win percentage of 61.11, India replaced Australia from the top rank and inched nearer to qualification for the WTC Final on a bright note. Although Australia is still at a 57.69% win rate, and despite the loss, the result leaves India in a stronger position to qualify for the WTC Final, provided they continue their winning streak during the ongoing series. Australia has to fix its many woes against Indian bowlers to avoid jeopardizing its lead.

On the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively, are Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and  South Africa. South Africa has a very slim chance left to reach the final, while Pakistan’s and England’s probabilities are dwindling as the curtains draw towards the end of their campaigns.
