ODI World Cup 2023: CAB Requests ICC To Change the Date of England Vs Pakistan Match: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has asked BCCI to reschedule the England-Pakistan game because of security concerns related to the Kali Puja holiday, which might result in another modification to the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule. The state cricket organization is attempting to change the date of England vs Pakistan game from November 12 to November 11 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

According to PTI, the Kolkata city police told CAB that they expect more security for the game because Pakistan is one of the teams. This most recent update about the schedule modification followed that. One of the most significant Hindu festivals in the city and the surrounding area, Kali puja, falls on November 12.

They also stated that CAB executives met with municipal police officials on Thursday and were told of the law-and-order problems on the day of the event. Following that, the association requested a date modification in writing to Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary.

Kali Puja is one of the most important Hindu holidays in the region, and a substantial police presence is essential to keep the peace. According to a PTI report, a top CAB official said that the police had expressed worries about ensuring security for the Diwali match.

Senior CAB officials are aware that Kolkata Police has handled this situation, notwithstanding CAB president Snehasish Ganguly’s denial of any formal request for a timeline change. It is uncertain if the ICC will consent to a further change in the timeline in such a situation. After the lengthy, almost three-hour ICC inspection and meeting, CAB Chairman Ganguly gave a guarded response to the media.

The schedule of Pakistan Would Be Changed Again

If the date change is allowed, it will be Pakistan’s third such schedule adjustment. The first two matches of Pakistan are under the requirements of the schedule, with the first being India versus Pakistan on October 15th and the second being Pakistan vs  Sri Lanka on October 12th. However, nothing has been verified as of yet, but speculations indicate that India vs. Pakistan would be postponed from September 15 to September 14.

Case of schedule change first arise when Ahmedabad police announced that they would not be able to provide security for the India-Pakistan game on October 15 because it fell on the first day of the nine-day Hindu festival of Navaratri, one of the most significant festivals in Gujarat, of which Ahmedabad is a part, and many other areas of northern India, they later clarified that they would be able to do so.

Pakistan will kick off their ICC World Cup 2023 journey by playing against the Netherlands on October 6 and will play England in their last group-stage encounter on November 12 at Eden Gardens. Although PCB has agreed to move their games against India (from October 15 to 14) and Sri Lanka (from October 12 to 10) but we will see how PCB will react to the news of rescheduling of the another match.
