IPL Auction 2024: Most Expensive Players In Indian Premier League From 2008 To Date And Their Stats. The player auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19, witnessed multiple record-breaking moments. In a groundbreaking IPL auction on Tuesday, Australian pace star Mitchell Starc set a new benchmark, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquiring him for a record Rs 24.75 crore. Returning to the IPL after an eight-year break, Starc surpassed compatriot Pat Cummins, who had momentarily set the record before joining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a hefty Rs 20.50 crore.

The auction intensified as Rajasthan Royals (RR) started the bidding for West Indian powerhouse Rovman Powell. After a heated battle with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan clinched the deal at Rs 7.40 crore. However, Powell, initially with a base price of Rs 1 crore, landed a lucrative contract after his release from the Delhi Capitals. 

Additionally, England’s Harry Brook, who was previously secured by SRH for 13.25 crore, was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Australia’s World Cup final star, Travis Head, for Rs 6.8 crore.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were active participants in the IPL 2024 auction, making notable signings. However, they roped in New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra for Rs 1.8 crore and secured Daryl Mitchell for an impressive Rs 14 crore. Additionally, CSK bolstered their bowling attack by acquiring Indian pacer Shardul Thakur for Rs 4 crore. 

Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings made waves by capturing the signature of Harshal Patel for a substantial sum of Rs 11.75 crore. Adding to the auction’s surprises, uncapped Indian talent Sameer Rizvi fetched a significant bid of Rs 8.40 crore from CSK. Let’s explore the most expensive players in IPL history Year-wise.
