IPL 2024: West Indies All-Rounder Romario Shepherd Joins Mumbai Indians Traded From Lucknow Super Giants. Mumbai Indians, an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, recently acquired West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd through a successful trade with Lucknow Super Giants. Shepherd, who had played only one match for LSG during IPL 2023, unfortunately scored a golden duck in his team’s victorious five-wicket performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 28-year-old cricketer made his IPL debut in 2022 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he was acquired for an impressive Rs. 7.75 crore during the auction. In that season, he showcased his prowess by participating in three matches, amassing 58 runs with a remarkable strike rate of 141.46. He also exhibited his bowling skills by taking three wickets.

Romario Shepherd, at the age of 28, has earned a notable reputation in international cricket thanks to his remarkable all-round skills. His extensive bowling prowess, complete with a wide range of tricks and variations, makes him a versatile choice for handling various game situations.

Romario Shepherd Impact Upon Joining Mumbai Indians and Performance 

In the IPL 2023 season, Mumbai Indians secured the fourth position in the points table, securing eight victories in 14 matches. They triumphed over LSG in the first eliminator but faced defeat at the hands of the Gujarat Titans in the second eliminator. The addition of Romario Shepherd adds depth and strength to their squad, creating high expectations for their performance in the upcoming IPL season.

It’s worth noting that Mumbai Indians will mark the third IPL franchise for Shepherd. Before joining Mumbai Indians, he was associated with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022 and subsequently with the Lucknow Super Giants in 2023. Shepherd’s batting skills make him a valuable asset when it comes to finishing an innings with powerful strokes.

In T20 international cricket for the West Indies, he boasts an impressive record, having accumulated 301 runs in 31 matches at an outstanding average of 37.62 and a striking rate of 153.57. Shepherd’s bowling prowess in the T20 format is equally impressive. With 109 wickets in 99 games, he maintains an average of 23. In T20Is representing the West Indies, he has taken 31 wickets in as many matches, with an average of 29.70.
