One day before the mini-auction, Jio Cinema, one of the auction’s broadcasters, organized a mock auction. Wherein certain experts and former cricketers represented their favourite teams and participated in the bidding process.

Meanwhile, a total of 332 players will compete for a maximum of 77 slots across 10 teams at the IPL auction. The auction pool consists of 214 Indian players and 119 overseas players with only a select few expected to be chosen during the event. Does not have any impact on the actual auction scheduled for Tuesday. However, we will keep you updated as the IPL 2024 auction begins.

Mitchell Starc (KKR) 24.75 CR

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a significant splash at the IPL 2024 auction, securing the services of Australian paceman Mitchell Starc for a staggering Rs. 24.75 crore! This marks Starc’s triumphant return to the IPL after a prolonged absence since 2015. His impressive T20I stats, boasting 72 wickets in 58 matches at an average of 22.96, justify the hefty price tag. However, this acquisition also marked Starc as the most expensive player in IPL history.

Pat Cummins (SRH)- 20.50 CR

The IPL 2024 auction made headlines as Sunrisers Hyderabad strategically acquired Australian captain Pat Cummins for Rs. 20.50 crore. This investment in the T20I powerhouse Cummins, who has an impressive record of 55 wickets in 50 matches, added strength and experience to the Hyderabad attack, with the promise of leading them back to glory.

Despite challenges posed by Cummins’ workload management and limited recent T20 exposure, his skill and leadership qualities spoke louder, making him the perfect missing piece for Hyderabad’s rebuilding puzzle. Get ready for the Orange Army to rise again, powered by the Cummins Express.

Daryl Mitchell (CSK)- 14 CR

Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell stunned the IPL world by fetching a 14 crore bid from CSK, renowned for their shrewd picks. This astronomical price tag sent shockwaves, raising questions about whether Mitchell’s T20I prowess (1069 runs at 34.10 and 137.74 strike rate) translates to IPL consistency (22.29 average in 2 matches). While doubts linger, CSK might be betting on his adaptability (underrated off-spin and calm presence) to complement their fiery youngsters.
