ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, Qualification Round Kickstarts. The qualification round for the under 19 men’s cricket world cup 2024 is set to get underway on 5 August 2022. This will kickstart the process to find the last 5 teams who will join the already qualified 11 teams for the marquee event. The regional qualifiers will witness 24 countries from Europe, Asia, and Africa.

The first round will be held in Europe, which will be followed by Asia and Africa in September. Over the years, the under-19 world cup has carried a legacy of introducing some talents who, later on, have become the superstars of their respective countries.

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE

A total of 16 teams will be competing at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024. 11 teams have automatically qualified for the event based on the ranking from the previous event in 2022. These teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.

The final 5 places will be decided by the winner of regional qualifiers, where the winner from each region will qualify for the mega event.

Americas and EAP will be hosting one qualifying event, each in 2023, with the winner of each event booking a spot at the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Africa, Asia, and Europe will have to undergo a two-step qualification structure.

These regions will host Division 2 Qualifiers this year from August-September to determine the teams that will compete in the second and final qualifying event, the Regional Qualifiers. Only the winning teams from the Regional Qualifiers will participate in the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.

ICC U19 MEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP – ASIA DIVISION 2 QUALIFIER ROUND

The Europe Division 2 Qualifier, which will commence on 5 August 2022, will see eight teams competing in 20 matches over seven days across the island’s four venues. The host nation and the European countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Isle of Man, Italy, Norway, and Sweden will lock against each other.

The two finalists and the winner of the third-place playoff will all progress to join Jersey, the Netherlands, and Scotland in the Europe Qualifier round- the second and final stage in the region’s qualification pathway, which will take place next year.

ICC U19 MEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP – ASIA DIVISION 2 QUALIFIER ROUND

The focus will then shift to Asia, where Oman will host the ICC Asia Division 2 Qualifier round from 29 September to 7 October 2022. Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Thailand will compete, with the two finalists progressing to the Asia Qualifier. They will be joined by Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, and UAE, who are already granted a place at the final qualification stage.

ICC U19 MEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP – AFRICA DIVISION 2 QUALIFIER ROUND

The last qualifier round in 2022 will take place From 30 September to 8 October in Abuja, Nigeria. The countries that will participate are Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone.

The two finalists in this round, plus the third-placed team, will qualify to compete at the Africa Qualifier in 2023, where they will be joined by Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda, who have already entered the qualification pathway at this stage.
