IPL 2024 Mini Auction Format

Each IPL franchise is granted a budget of Rs 90 crore to assemble the best possible roster from across the world, comprising capped and uncapped Indian players as well as overseas players. Teams are not allowed to spend the entire Rs 90 crore, but at least 75% (Rs 60 crore) must be allocated to players. The top five players may account for 30-40% of a team’s budget.

The amount of players listed at an IPL auction is not restricted and changes year to year. The number of players stated is decided by who registers and is accepted by their respective countries/boards. These players may represent another country’s capped, uncapped, or associate cricket nation.

One significant change in the forthcoming mini-auction is the elimination of the team retention restriction. In contrast to past seasons, teams will be able to keep as many players as they like, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the bidding process.
