Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. They scored 182 runs, with LSG’s Naveen Ul Haq taking four wickets. However, LSG collapsed in front of Paltan, and Akash Madhwal won the match for MI single-handedly.

66 runs Partnership By Green and Yadav

Mumbai Indians started well, however, both openers were sent back to the pavilion with a score of 38. On the other hand, Surya Kumar Yadav and Cameroon Green formed an effective combination and scored runs without reducing the run rate. They collaborated on 66 runs.

Naveen Ul Haq’s 4 Wickets

Naveen Ul Haq of Lucknow showed extreme mastery by grabbing four wickets. First, he sent Mumbai Captain Rohit Sharma to the pavilion with a score of 11 runs. When Krunal Pandya noticed the partnership is growing big between Green and Yadav, he gave the ball to Haq again and sent both players back to the pavilion in a single over. He grabbed another wicket of Tilak Varma, who seemed dangerous at the moment.

MI gave the Target of 183 runs

However, no player scored a half-century for the Mumbai Indians, but they still managed to reach 182 runs thanks to the combined efforts of Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Nehal Wadhera.

LSG Crumbled after First Strategic Time Out

When LSG batted, they lost two early wickets for a total of 23 runs. MI dug the LSG base by sending Mankad and Mayers back too soon. However, Stoinis, like the rest of the season, stayed firm and had a fine partnership with Captain Krunal Pandya, but he couldn’t hold out for too long and crumbled in the face of excellent bowling by MI, finally losing to MI.

Akash Madhwal Striking Career Best By Taking Fifer

In the IPL 2023 Eliminator, Akash Madhwhal performed admirably against the Lucknow Super Giants. This Indian uncapped player grabbed 5 wickets in this shortest form of cricket, matching Indian legend Anil Kumble’s record of 5 wickets in 5 runs.

He initially sent Mankdad back early, and then Rohit Sharma showed his captaincy by reserving him to bowl after the Powerplay. Rohit’s selection paid off, as Madhwal claimed two wickets in two balls in the following over. LSG also got three runouts, including Stoinis, their best middle-order batsman. This contributed to MI winning by 81 runs.
