Expected changes in the schedule

It is expected that IPL 2021 UAE leg will commence on 17h September and will end on 11th October. As a result, eight to ten doubleheaders will be held to finish the remaining 31 matches on time. Since ICC t20 cricket world cup may also be held in UAE, BCCI plans to keep the last few league matches and the playoff in one stadium only. This will allow ICC to prepare the other two stadiums for the world cup. The three stadiums in UAE will be Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai.

If ICC T20 cricket world cup shifts to the UAE, BCCI will have to hand over the pitches to ICC on 1st October. However, as things stand, BCCI has got informal permission from ICC to hold the last few IPL matches in one stadium. Therefore, Dubai will most likely host the last few league matches and playoff. This will help ICC to arrange the other stadiums from 1st October.
