IPL 2024 Start Date: IPL 2024 Window Confirmed From 22 March To May End – Report. According to cricbuzz the Indian Premier League (IPL) official window is set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from March 22 to the end of May. The finalization of exact dates is pending due to the upcoming general elections next summer, contingent on the election program. Ahead of the IPL auction in Dubai on December 19, the Australian, South African, and Afghanistan. New Zealand, and West Indies boards have fully made their players available, with minor or no riders. Nevertheless, the governing bodies of England, Ireland, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have granted tentative approval.

IPL 2024: International Players’ Availability

Most Australian players are set to participate in the IPL, except Josh Hazlewood, joining in the first week of May. Cricket Australia (CA) assured. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that all players, except Hazlewood and those in the Sheffield Shield final, will be available, with the option to choose IPL over the domestic event from March 21 to 25.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) allows player participation, depending on fitness and international duties, contingent on the T20 WC schedule yet to be finalized. However, Rehan Ahmed withdrew from the auction, and the T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 4 to 30 in the Caribbean and the US. Also, the BCCI announced that the ECB is prepared to release players for the IPL. Contingent upon fitness and international duty.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket Ireland (CI) have partially made their players available for the IPL. Still, special permissions allow full participation for Joshua Little and a limited window for Mustafizur Rahman. Despite Sri Lanka’s Test against Bangladesh from March 30 to April 3, certain players like Mahesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Matheesha Pathirana and Dushmantha Chameera will be available for the full IPL duration as they won’t participate in Tests.

BCB has conveyed that Taskin Ahmed and Md. Shoriful Islam, listed for the auction, won’t be available for IPL. Only three Bangladesh players, including Rahman, were in the auction register. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Cricket West Indies (CWI), Cricket South Africa (CSA). New Zealand Cricket (NZC), and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) have confirmed the full availability of their players for the entire IPL.

The IPL 2024 Auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19, commencing at 11:30 AM local time and 1:00 PM IST. This marks the 17th edition of the IPL auction, with the previous one held in December 2022.

How many players are set to be available for the IPL 2024 Auction?

The IPL 2024 Auction pool comprises 333 players, with 77 slots open for the 10 franchises. Of these, we reserve 30 slots for overseas players, including two from Associate nations. Moreover, the player distribution includes 214 Indians and 119 overseas players, with 116 capped and 215 uncapped players, including two from Associate nations. The auction promises a diverse mix of talent for the franchises.

What is the budget for each franchise in the IPL Auction 2024?

The IPL 2024 Auction will see ten franchises with varying budgets for player acquisitions. Gujarat Titans lead the pack with Rs 38.15 crore, followed closely by Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rs 34 crore and Kolkata Knight Riders at Rs 32.7 crore. Also, Chennai Super Kings have Rs 31.4 crore at their disposal. While Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals hold budgets of Rs 29.1 crore and Rs 28.95 crore, respectively. Moreover, Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the auction with Rs 23.25 crore, Mumbai Indians with Rs 17.75 crore, Rajasthan Royals with Rs 14.5 crore and Lucknow SuperGiants with Rs 13.15 crore.
