Asia Cup 2023: Team Afghanistan Squad And Schedule. The 16th Asia Cup is all set to commence on August 30 and run until September 17. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to give the hosting rights to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which means the tournament will be hosted in a hybrid format. The Asia Cup will entertain the fans with 13 matches, of which 9 will be played in Sri Lanka, including the finals and the rest 4 will be played in Pakistan.

The Asia Cup 2023 will feature Six Asian teams, including Nepal, which will be playing its maiden tournament. Nepal qualified after winning the ACC Men’s Premier Cup in May 2023. Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are the six teams that will be locking horns with each other in this event. The first match of the tournament will be played between host Pakistan and Nepal at Multan.

Asia Cup Group Overview

Under Mohammad Nabi’s captaincy, the Afghanistan cricket team first appeared in the Asia Cup of 2014, where they defeated Bangladesh by 32 runs. Since then, the Afghanistan team has played in the tournament three times (in 2014, 2018, and 2022). However, they have never hosted a single Asia Cup in their country.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is yet to declare the team for the Asia Cup. However, an impromptu team has been constructed based on previous matches and occurrences.
