Feb 18th is the date when mini-auctions of the 14th edition of Indian Premier League will take place in Chennai. All the eight-franchise are busy making their strategy to get key players.

Several key players have been released by the respective franchise. Here we take a look at the top 4 players who might be a hot buy for the franchise:

  • CHRIS MORRIS

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore player Chris Morris would be one of the top buys at this IPL auctions. The South Africa fast bowler has taken 80 wickets in 70 matches so far.

His ability to bowl both at the death overs and during power play is one of his plus points. He was bought for 10 crore last year and this year too he might get sold for good value.

  • GLENN MAXWELL

Glenn Maxwell was part of the kings X1 side last season. However, he was released this year due to his dismal performance in season 13. The Australian all-rounder has been in terrific form during the big bash league. His IPL stats speak a lot of volume about his importance.

Till now, in IPL, he has scored 1515 runs in 82 matches with a terrific strike rate of 154. Last season he was bought for a whopping 10.75 crore. Maxwell is a match winner by all shorts. On his day, he has the ability to single-handedly win the match for his team. He would surely be up for grabs this season.

  • STEVE SMITH

This year everyone was surprised by the release of Steve Smith by Rajasthan Royals. Such a quality batsman being released shows the quality of team selection which teams nowadays do.

In IPL name does not matter and only performance matters. Unlike previous seasons, the Smith was not retained owing to his poor form in IPL 13. The 31-year-old middle order batsman has so far played 95 IPL matches and scored 2,333 runs with a healthy strike rate of 129.

Smith can be considered by teams because he can carry forward the batting unit. His role basically is to anchor the innings which can be very useful. Last season he was bought for 12.5 crore, but we feel this season he might be sold for lesser than that. But still, his talent is undoubtedly top class.

  • DAWID MALAN

Dawid Malan, the current No1 T20 ranking English batsmen will be a hot target at the Indian Premier League 2021 auctions. He has been a sensation in the international circuit in very short time. The left-handed batsman has scored 855 runs in just 19 T20I games at a healthy average of 53.44. His strike rate of 149.48 is best suited for T20 cricket.

The fact that he is a left-handed and can bat at any batting order, makes him one of the most demanded players at the auctions. We should not be surprised if he gets sold for the highest bidding amount.

These are players to look for in the IPL auctions who would be on the checklist of all franchise..
