RCB are crowned champions after defeating Punjab by 6 runs, thus winning their first IPL title after 18 years. The trophy drought came to an end, and finally, no more “Ee Sala Cup Namde.” The IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings was a thriller, with both teams looking to win their first title. The exciting final took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first.
RCB, set to bat first, had their opener in trouble early as Kyle Jamieson bowled out Phil Salt for 16. Mayank Agarwal then came in and played aggressively for 35 before falling to a Chahal delivery, while Kohli stayed calm and steady, scoring 43. Captain Patidar contributed 28. Jitesh Sharma hammered 24 off just 10 balls. The set of batsmen capitalized on a few wayward deliveries to take RCB to 190/9 in their 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh turned it back for PBKS, plucking 3 wickets in the final over.
PBKS kicked off their chase with fireworks, surging to 32 without loss in the first four overs. But RCB’s bowlers bounced back, with Josh Hazlewood sending back Priyansh Arya. Further wickets, including those of Shreyas Iyer and Josh Inglis, put PBKS at 101 for 4 after 13 overs. Krunal Pandya was spectacular with 2/17 in 4 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets in the 17th over. Shashank Singh tried hard for PBKS, scoring 61 off 30, but finally RCB won by 6 runs.
