IPL 2024 Start Date, Venues, Auction, and List Of Players Traded Of All 10 Teams. The Indian Premier League continues to stand as India’s premier and thrilling cricket tournament. The upcoming IPL 2024 is expected to start in mid-March 2024 and extend until the end of May 2024. The Board of Control for Cricket in India organizes the IPL. The unveiling of the detailed schedule for IPL 2024 is imminent. The team will partake in a total of 74 matches, adhering to the format utilized in the previous year’s IPL.

The adjustment is influenced by the impending ICC Men’s T20 World Cup slated for June 4, 2024. The organizers consider it necessary to schedule the IPL 2024 earlier, ensuring that players have ample time to prepare for both tournaments, given the proximity of these two significant events.

TATA company will sponsor IPL 2024, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India has granted approval for the Tatas’ request for an extended partnership. Consequently, the BCCI plans to grant the Tatas the right-to-match privilege allowing them to make a superior bid in the title sponsorship for the period from 2024 to 2028.

IPL 2024 Venues 

The IPL 2024 matches will unfold in diverse cities across India, showcasing a cricketing extravaganza at some of the nation’s distinguished venues. Historic clashes will take place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, while Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Ahmedabad’s imposing Narendra Modi Stadium, Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens Stadium, and Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium are set to witness intense competition.

Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, renowned for its lively atmosphere, will contribute its charm to the IPL 2024 matches. Additionally, the cricketing fervour will extend to Lucknow’s BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, enriching the vibrant tapestry of venues for this edition of the Indian Premier League. Each stadium holds a unique history and fan base, adding to the rich tapestry of cricketing culture during the IPL 2024 season.

IPL 2024 Auction and Teams

Anticipating the highly awaited IPL scheduled for March 2024, the BCCI plans to hold the IPL Auction 2024 in Dubai on 19th December 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India will allocate each participating team a budget of Rs 100 crore and they must place offers for their selected players within this budget. The current champions, Chennai Super Kings now hold the highest budget for the IPL 2024 auction after releasing three additional players, totalling around INR 30 crores. Apart from the decision to release Ben Stokes valued at Rs 16.25 crore, there is an additional amount freed up from Ambati Rayudu (Rs 6.75 crore) who retired from the IPL last year.

Players Traded Before IPL 2024 Auction

The deadline for all 10 franchises to complete and submit their retention lists for the upcoming auction is set to close on Sunday, November 26, marking the end of the IPL 2024 trade window. Also, As the closing date draws near the current trade window has witnessed minimal activity with only a few transactions completed.

In the initial trade move leading up to the upcoming season Mumbai Indians (MI) successfully acquired the services of West Indies versatile bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd through a trade with Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG). The 28-year-old, previously associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL joined MI at his existing price of ₹50 lakh.

In the second trade agreement, executed as a swap Team India’s fast bowler Avesh Khan transitioned to Rajasthan Royals (RR) from Lucknow Super Giants. However, In exchange, the left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal traded to LSG from RR. This series of trade activities introduces an intriguing dynamic to the team compositions setting the stage for an exciting IPL 2024 season. LSG secured Avesh for ₹10 crore in the mega auction of 2022, while RR obtained Padikkal for ₹7.75 crore during the same bidding event.

Reports suggest a significant IPL trade might occur with Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, expected to return to the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming 2024 season. Pandya initially belonged to Mumbai before joining the Titans when the franchise was established in 2022. During his two seasons with Gujarat Pandya led them to the IPL final on both occasions. Notably, he played a crucial role in the Titans securing their maiden IPL trophy in the inaugural season of 2022, followed by a runner-up finish in 2023.
