IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India Create History At Edgbaston With 336-Run Win, Level Series 1-1. Team India executed a magnificent all-round performance to win against England by 336 runs in the 2nd Test at Edgbaston, registering their first-ever Test win at this venue. This is Shubman Gill’s 1st win as a captain. With this incredible win, India leveled the 5-match series at 1-1 so far.
Akash Deep’s 10-wicket haul
After putting up a huge target of 608 runs, Indian bowlers dismissed England’s second innings at 271 runs on Day 5. The star of the match was young pacer Akash Deep, who produced a sensational 10-wicket match haul (4/88 & 6/99) and became only the third Indian pacer in history to do so in England after Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Deep outstaged many famous England batters, including Joe Root and Zak Crawley, in both innings with a skillset, pace, and control beyond his experience.
Earlier in the match, Shubman Gill showed a great batting display. The Indian skipper scored 269 in the first innings and followed it with 161 in the second innings, with an aggregate of 430 runs, which was the most ever by an Indian in a Test match. Gill is only the second captain after Allan Border to score a double hundred and 150+ in the same test.
Rishabh Pant (65), KL Rahul (55), and Ravindra Jadeja (69*) all played important innings that were able to support Gill, while Siraj and Akash provided key wickets.
