The 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off on 21 November in Qatar and the world is all hyped up about the biggest Footballing festival and event there is. A total of 32 Teams (divided into 8 Groups) will be participating in the tournament this year and they will fight it out for the prestigious trophy.

4. France – The defending champions of the FIFA World Cup should definitely be the names foremost on the list of teams who can win the prestigious Quadrennial tournament in 2022. France won the 2018 World Cup in Russia in exquisite fashion and they totally dominated whichever team they played against and rose up against all odds to lift the trophy. It must be remembered that they have made significant improvements in their squad ever since.

With the addition of players like Karim Benzema, France has furthermore strengthened their World Cup-winning team and it will be unjust to not consider them as one of the favourites to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, the World Cup curse, according to which the winners of a particular FIFA World Cup perform horribly in the successive edition of the tournament might also take charge. But France has what it takes to break this curse and win the tournament respectively. 

3. Spain – When former FC Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique took charge of the Spanish national team about a year ago, no one had expected them to make so much improvement in such a short period of time but the gaffer proved everyone wrong to build one of the most feared teams in the world currently.

Spain did outstandingly in Euro 2020 and Nations League 2021 and was whiskers away from lifting both the trophies. Their young squad combined with the brilliant footballing mind of Luis Enrique is what makes them unstoppable and they might as well finish the job this time in the Qatar World Cup. 

2. Brazil – While it is true that mighty Brazil is favourites in every single edition of the FIFA World Cup, having won the most number of FIFA World Cup titles, it is also true that they have not won the tournament since 2002 and over two decades have passed since their last title. Brazil’s squad in the 2022 World Cup might be their strongest squad in the last two decades and this gives hope to Millions of Brazillian fans who have dreamed to lift the prestigious title once again for the last two decades. 

As this is also the last World Cup for Neymar Jr (which he has already announced), he will go all out to win the trophy for his nation as so far, Neymar has not won a single International trophy for Brazil in his career (apart from the Olympic Gold). 

1. Argentina – We now talk about the most talked-about team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022, the La Albiceleste. Ever since Lionel Scaloni took over the Argentine national team, there has been an aura of change in the dressing room.

The manager has been able to build a strong team around their captain Lionel Messi and the chemistry and bond between them are crazy. Their love and admiration for Leo are the glue that binds them together and it is evident on the pitch in every single match.

Argentina won the Copa America 2021 by defeating Brazil in the final and the La Finalissima in 2022 by defeating Italy and they have been unbeaten for the last 33 matches straight. It is the last World Cup of 35-year-old Lionel Messi and as the world is saying, ‘Football owes a World Cup to Leo Messi’.
