Asian Games 2023 Football Schedule, Teams List And India Squad. The Asian Games, a multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia, is a spectacle that sports enthusiasts eagerly anticipate. The 2023 edition, which will be hosted in China is schedule to take place from 23 Sep to 8 Oct. The tournament will showcase the best of Asian football, with teams from across the continent vying for the coveted gold medal.

On September 19, Football at Asian Games 2023 kicks off in Hangzhou, China, and concludes on October 7. The event showcases 32 teams competing in men’s football and 16 nations vying for the medals in women’s football. Men in blue starts its campaign against China.

Asian Games 2023 Indian Football Team


The men’s football competition has been part of the Asian Games since its inception in 1951, while the women’s event was introduced in 1990. China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, South Korea and India have already confirmed their participation. It’s going to be an exciting and highly competitive tournament with teams from various Asian countries showcasing their skills and talent on the field.

On July 26, Central youth affairs and sports minister Anurag Thakur confirmed the Indian Men and Women’s team’s participation in the Asian Games 2023. On Wednesday AIFF announced 22-man squad led by Sunil Chhetri for the tournament


The women’s event at Hangzhou 2023 will feature 16 women’s football teams. Among the participating countries are India, China, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. These teams will be competing in the tournament. Exciting matches are expected as these nations showcase their talents in women’s football.

Asian Games 2023 Football Draw

Team India (men’s team) has been put in Group A with hosts China, Bangladesh & Myanmar while the Indian Women’s team is in Group B with Thailand & Taiwan.

Asian Games 2023 Football – Indian Team Squad Details

The AIFF has put together a roster of under 23 players and sent it to the clubs to develop a new group of young athletes. these players could represent the country in the Asian Games, Thailand’s King’s Cup, and AFC under-23 Asian Cup qualifications. After the ministry’s approval federation will announce the squad soon. According to Time Of India report, skipper Sunil Chhetri, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and defender Sandesh Jhingan’s name is missing from the list AIFF sent to the Indian Olympic Association for the Asian Games 2023.

The performance in the Asian Games football tournament is always exciting. When we look at previous years’ performance, South Korea defended their championship in the men’s football event, while Japan won the gold medal in the women’s football event at the 2018 Asian Games.
