Brief History Of Euro Cup

The 16th edition of the UEFA Euro 2020 began on June 11 with matches played in 11 major cities across Europe. The tournament was first played in the year 1960. The competition has been held every four years since 1960. Countries like Germany and Spain have won the Euro Cup three times each.

France has been victorious twice in the finals of the Euro cup. The other countries that have managed to win the cup are the Soviet Union, Italy, Czech Republic, Portugal, Netherland, Denmark, and Greece.

Euro Cup 2020 Round Of 16 Schedule

At the end of the group stages, we have 16 teams who have qualified for the round of 16 also known as the pre-quarter-final stage. Teams who have qualified for the round of 16 stages are Italy, Switzerland, Wales from Group- A . Belgium, and Denmark from Group -B, Netherland, Austria, and Ukraine from Group -C England, Croatia, and Czech Republic from Group -D. Sweden and Spain from Group -E. France, Germany, and Portugal from Group-F.

The brackets are ready for the next round of 16. Italy will face Austria to proceed further to win the Cup. Wales will be looking forward to a win over Denmark. Netherland needs to win over the Czech Republic to enter the quarter-final stage. Belgium will be a tough opponent for Portugal to beat. France will play against Switzerland to enter the quarter-final.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 2 goals in penalties to hold France at a 2-2 draw to edge Portugal into the next round of 16. Leon Goretzka rescued Germany with a late equalizer against Hungry to end the game with a 2-2 draw. Spain went through with flying colors with a 5-0 victory over Slovakia to advance in the round of 16.

Who Will Win The Euro 2020 Golden Boot ?

We are witnessing great players playing at their best and they are moving steadily ahead with their goal-scoring ability to win the golden boot. Ronaldo of Portugal is leading ahead with 5 goals. We have Patrick Schick of the Czech Republic with 3 goals under his belt.

In the list, we also have Emil Forsberg of Sweden, Romelu Lukaku of Belgium, Georginio Wijnaldum of Netherlands, Robert Lewandowski of Poland, scoring 3 goals each in the Euro Cup till now.

Memphis Depay of Netherland, Ciro Immobile of Italy, along with Xherdan Shaqiri and Roman Yaremchuk of Ukraine have scored 2 goals each, are also on the list of contenders to win the golden boot. These are the top players of their country team and play for Top clubs in the continent.

Who Will Win Euro 2020 ?

Last two weeks football lovers and fans all over the world had the best time to watch their favorite team and players playing some fantastic football, fighting out to win a place in the round of 16. Four matches were played on the final day of the group stage with countries like Portugal, Germany, and Spain easily reached in the round of 16.

England has to play their best football to pull off a win against heavyweight Germany, keep their hope alive in the tournament, and Sweden will be required to give all that they have got to beat Ukraine, a strong team under former player Andriy  Shevchenko as a Coach.
