PSG was also considered to be one of the favorites to win the 2021 UEFA Champions League with the addition of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma to their squad. However, all of those players, especially Lionel Messi, took a lot of time to settle into the team, and thus they were eliminated as early as in the Round of 16 last year.

However, they finally seem to have found the right momentum under their new manager Christophe Galtier and have not lost a single match so far this season. They have finally emerged as the team we expected them to be last season and are one of the top teams in Europe at the moment, performance-wise.

With the addition of Erling Haaland, Manchester City has become simply unstoppable. The Norwegian goal machine has already scored 14 goals in 9 matches (all tournaments combined) and seems to be in no mood to stop anytime soon. Pep Guardiola’s super team has finally got the striker that they lacked for so many years and with this much-required addition, they are one of the most dangerous sides in all of Europe this season.

Manchester City has come really close to winning the Champions League numerous times in the last few years. Will this be the year when they finally exponentiate the glory of their trophy cabinet by adding a Champions League trophy? Well, only time will tell.

2. FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona might have lost their recent outing against FC Bayern Munich but even the Bayern fans will agree that they were a tad too lucky. Had Robert Lewandowski and Pedri Gonzalez converted the numerous chances that they got, the outcome of the match would have been a lot different.

FC Barcelona has built a super squad this season and they are one of the strongest teams on paper without a doubt. They are still a team under development and once Xavi is done fine-tuning each and every player according to his requirements, this FC Barcelona will be a force to be reckoned with. They are surely one of the top contenders to win the UEFA Champions League this season.

1. Real Madrid

Yes, you read it right. Defending champions Real Madrid are once again the top contenders to win the UEFA Champions League two times in a row. They have done it before and seeing the form that they are currently in, there is no reason to suspect that Carlo Ancelotti’s men can not repeat last year’s heroics. Real Madrid is the only team across Europe to have a 100% win record across all tournaments so far this season.

They are looking even more refined and deadly than last season. Whilst many called the Los Blancos the ‘undeserved champions’ last season, they are slowly silencing their haters this year with their brilliant performances. Remontadas are a thing of the past now for Real Madrid. This year, do not expect comeback wins for the Whites as it is they who will dominate the matches.
