Henry Augustus Mears founded Chelsea FC in 1905, and the club plays its home games at Stamford Bridge stadium, the original site Mears chose. Over the years, the team experienced mixed fortunes, and they did not win a major trophy until the 1950s, having moved up and down between divisions several times. However, in the 1990s and the early 21st century, the Blues improved their standing to become one of the most successful clubs in English football.
