Sachin could not even open his account in his opening match, and Waqar Younis again bowled him for a duck. Sachin was initially a middle-order batsman who was later promoted to open, and the rest is history. Sachin could score his first ODI century after a wait of 78 games against Australia in Colombo.

Sachin was also a very handy bowler who could chip in with a few quiet overs to stop the flow of runs. There was a phase in his cricket when he suffered from Tennis elbow for a few years. Due to this, his batting performance deteriorated for a few months.

He announced his retirement from ODI cricket in the year 2012 after the England series. Sachin’s last test innings was against West Indies in 2013 at his home ground, Wankhede stadium.
