To reach the level of record is a record in itself. And this record was seen at the Coolidge Cricket Ground where the first match of the T20 series was played between West Indies and Sri Lanka on 3rd February 2021.
After a long time West Indies won the 1st T20I of the series at the Coolidge Cricket Ground by 4 wickets. WI was chasing a victory target of 132 with 6.5 overs remaining, but this not the news.
In this match Kieron Pollard the hard hitter run machine made history as he joined Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs in the international history books. Six sixes in an over in International cricket. Polard smashes six sixes off hat-trick man Akila Dananjaya’s third over

Herschelle Gibbs off Daan van Bunge, SA v Net, 2007 (ODI)

Yuvraj Singh off Stuart Broad, Ind v Eng, 2007 (T20I)

Kieron Pollard off Akila Dananjaya, WI v SL, 2021 (T20I)

Who could be next?

The match result was surely secondary in this game which was full of extraordinary landmarks. In Akila Dananjaya’s case, he became the 2nd player – after Stuart Broad – to claim a hat-trick and be smashed for six consecutive sixes, albeit Broad’s pair came four years apart. Dananjaya achieved the double in little over 10 minutes.

Kieron Pollard became the second player from the Caribbean to achieve the milestone, following Sir Garfield Sobers for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan. As for Dananjaya, he finished with figures of 3 for 62 from four overs.

‘I felt I could hit six sixes after the third one’ – said Kieron Pollard after achieving this milestone.

Interestingly Both Pollard & Dananjaya were part of MI in 2018
