Asia Cup 2023: Tournament To Stay In Pakistan But India Will Play At Neutral Venue. In September of this year, the Asia Cup 2023 will be held in a highly distinctive setting. Pakistan will serve as the tournament’s hosts for the first time in its history, although Team India’s games will be played at a neutral site, far from Pakistan.

It was also confirmed at the most recent ACC conference that Team India will be permitted to play its games at a neutral site. England, Oman, and the UAE are potential locations for the Indian team’s games during the 2023 Asia Cup.

Oman may not draw the same number of spectators as an English site might for Indian matches because of the humid weather in the UAE in September.

What Exactly Happened And How It Is Decided

Asia Cup 2023 will be contested in a neutral site, according to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head Jay Shah, who previously stated that India will not be travelling to Pakistan for the competition due to security concerns.

Pakistan then responded to that In a fast response, the PCB, then led by Ramiz Raja, stated that Pakistan would withdraw from the competition if it were held outside of the country. Ramiz Raja added that Pakistan would not travel to India for the 50-over World Cup later this year if it were the case.

India won’t be competing in Pakistan, nevertheless, it has already been confirmed. Following a discussion between the boards a few days ago, Pakistan will be authorized to host the competition. India will play its games at a neutral site rather than in Pakistan; potential venues include Oman, the United Arab Emirates, England, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Yet, the choice will be made later.

Format Of Asia Cup 2023

The six-nation Asia Cup 2023, which is slated to take place in the first part of September this year and use a 50-over format as it will be followed by the 50-over ICC World Cup 2023 beginning on October 5, has India and Pakistan grouped together with a qualifier.

The top two teams from each group proceed to the Super 4s in accordance with the Asia Cup 2022’s structure, and the top two teams then compete against one another in the championship game. India and Pakistan might still play three times, just like in 2022.

India and Pakistan met twice at the T20 Asia Cup, with India winning the league stage encounter but losing the Super 4 match.
