WPL 2023 UPW Vs MI: Mumbai Indians Registered Fourth Straight Win By Defeating UP Warriorz By Eight Wickets. On March 12, UP Warriorz were at odds with table-toppers Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted for bat first. However UP lost their opener Devika Vaidya in the second over of the innings.

Spinner Saika Ishaque dismissed her for just six. Skipper Healy showered boundaries in an over of Ishaque. Warriorz made 48 runs in the power play. One down batter Kiran Navgire smashed a gigantic six and followed it with a four. However, She tried to go aerial again but was caught by wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia.

Alyssa Healy And Tahlia McGrath Smashed Individual Fifties

Next batter Tahlia McGrath looked set from the pavilion and smacked three fours in an over of Amelia Kerr. In the meantime, Healy completed her fifty in just 36 balls. Also, McGrath brought up her half-century in 36 overs. However, Purple Cap holder Ishaque turn the table by picking wickets of Healy and McGrath in an over. Warriorz continued to lose wickets in succession and managed to amas 159 in 20 overs after losing six wickets.

While chasing 160, Mumbai openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews gave a blistering start to their side. Yastika dropped twice early in her innings. She took advantage and played some attacking strokes. However, when she was nearing her half-century, spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed her. Yastika made 42 runs off 27 balls with the help of eight elegant boundaries and one six. In the next over, second opener Matthews also got dismissed by the English spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Harmanpreet Kaur And Nat Sciver-Brunt Helped Their Side To Get Over The Line

Next batters Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur batted sensibly and added a partnership for the third wicket. Skipper Harmanpreet unleashed her attacking strokes after getting set on the pitch. She completed her fifty in just 31 deliveries by smashing a boundary towards the fine leg. Both batters batted dominantly to reach their side of the target.

They added 106 runs for the third wicket. Harmanpreet played a spectacular unbeaten knock of 53 off 33 balls. She struck nine powerful boundaries and one six. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 45 off 31 balls. Her stellar knock consisted of six fours and one gigantic six, which was the winning shot of the match.
